Jaycee Fire 4.9.2009
A few minutes after my husband came home, we were sitting in our living room discussing our grocery list when we hear sirens coming down our street. David looked up to see that the park was on fire across the street from our home. We ran outside in shock as David had just driven by the park only minutes before. I ran back inside to get my cameras. The smoke was horrid and the fire did not want to go out but the fire department got it contained and saved the playground along with the pavilions in the park. The fire started in the center of the park and spread away from the main highway. There were many hot spots that continued to flare up through out the night. Especially across from my home. But everything seems to be okay now.
Here’s some news articles on it:

You can see my family standing in our front yard in one picture… look for the picture with the prius. It looks as if the worst of the fire was on our side of the park, where most of the brush was. People should be so much more careful of just tossing their cigarettes in a dry park!
